Who we are

Built in Appalachia.
Committed for the long run.

CityAware is the municipal technology platform of BitSource LLC — a Pikeville-based software and data engineering firm founded in 2014.

Why we exist

Municipal government technology has a problem: the vendors who serve cities are either too large to care about small communities or too expensive for tight county budgets. CityAware was built to close that gap — a full-service civic tech platform designed specifically for the towns and counties of Appalachian Kentucky and the communities like them across the region.

Our approach

We don't sell software licenses. We become embedded technical partners. When Pikeville needed a new .gov website, we built it. When they needed a booking system for the RV park, we built that too. When Martin County needed to digitize years of paper records, we built the AI OCR pipeline. We show up when there's a problem and stay until it's solved.

The team

CityAware is operated by the BitSource team — senior-level software and data engineers based in Pikeville, Kentucky. Every person who works on your project lives in this region and has a stake in its future.
